Letting Go of Guilt

When we  decide to pursue our dreams we can, at times be overcome with guilt. We focus all our attention on what we desire and feel guilty as society has taught us that this is selfish. Our partners can reinforce this as they may not be getting as much attention as they are used to. And then there is our kids. When do we get to spend time with them?
Guilt rears its ugly head and we start to feel torn. Should we carry on pursuing our dream , at any cost? Or should we allow our guilt to derail us and sacrifice our dream for the sake of the SHOULDS?
It doesn't have to be an  either /or decision. You can pursue your dream and release the guilt. You are doing the best that you can to be the best person that you can. Let go of the shoulds and allow yourself to turn it into a could. The energy of could is one of choice. It gives you the option of choosing whether this is something that you want.
When we give up on our dreams or allow others opinions to derail us, a little piece of us dies. Then resentment sets in and that opens up a whole can of worms.
Try tapping along to this video and see if you can release some of the guilt and keep on track with your dream.

Visualisation

We have all used visualisation at some time in our life- most of us just don't realise it. Have you ever created a picture in your mind or thought about what you were going to be doing the next day? That is visualisation. It doesn't have to be an actual image that you create in your mind as not all of us work with pictures.  As long as you can get a sense of the image that you want to create that is enough.

For instance if I ask you to imagine where you lived when you were 5 years old I am sure you will get some sense of that time in your life. Does it show up as pictures? Then you are a visual person. Does it show up more as a feeling or sensation of that time? Then you are kinesthetic. Does it show up as things your mother said to you or people speaking? Then you are more of an auditory person.
Now that you know how you perceive things, when I talk of visualisation it encompasses all of these modes of creating. When I create a vision board I tend to use words, pictures and emotion to really bring it to life. This is why I prefer to create them using my own images rather that pictures from magazines. By creating the image you put more emotion and feeling behind it and connect more with your subconscious mind. The subconscious is the deep hidden aspect of yourself that we want to tap into and stimulate so that it continues working for you long after you have stopped creating your vision board.
A great place to hang your vision board is somewhere you will see it daily. I have used the inside of my wardrobe door and the outside of my glass shower. Both of these places are highly visible and somewhere that you start your day. Your mind is more open and receptive first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Placing your vision board somewhere that you will see it at these times gives you maximum input and makes it more effective.
try using visualisation to create the outcomes that you want during your day. Start  walking yourself through your day in the morning, before you get out of bed. If you have a meeting or presentation imagine it going well and achieving your desired outcome. The more often you do this the more you will notice coincidences and synchronicities showing up in your life. Things will start to flow and seem more effortless.
You have nothing to lose so try it and see,

Who moved the goalposts?

Forget who moved my cheese, who moved the goalpost? I
It used to be that setting up a business was relatilely straight forward. You decided what it was you were going to sell, you setup a shopfront and the trickiest decision was choosing the name, logo and colour scheme.
If it was acountry it would be the third largest in the World!
Now you have to think about  a webiste,Twitter, Facebook, Linked In and to blog or not to blog. Not to mention the recession! And, excuse me, but do you know where all the customers went? Actually that last question is easy . They went on line to scope out the best deals.
Where does that leave you? Well if you are still thinking that just having a retail outlet in you local town is enough, think again!  You will, at the very minimum, need a website. Then to start building your online presence you need to join the sites mentioned above. Again the minimum would be Facebook.
How did Facebook get to be so important?  Well they say that if Facebook were a country it would be third in line- just below China and India. That's pretty big!
Here's another statistic for you those that were born from 1980 until 2000 ( Millenials) 96 % of them are using some form of social media and 78% will buy something on  peer recommendation. And where are they telling their friend about the latest great purchase they made or place they visited... Yup Facebook.
Now its all starting to make sense isn't it? For your business to be relevant in todays climate you need to be involved in social media.

Ok, but how? The easy part is setting up your page. The tricky part is figuring out how to generate followers. The best way is to start connecting with other pages. I will be writing more posts on how to  post status updates in the future so make sure to check back for updates.
