It used to be that setting up a business was relatilely straight forward. You decided what it was you were going to sell, you setup a shopfront and the trickiest decision was choosing the name, logo and colour scheme.

If it was acountry it would be the third largest in the World! |
Where does that leave you? Well if you are still thinking that just having a retail outlet in you local town is enough, think again! You will, at the very minimum, need a website. Then to start building your online presence you need to join the sites mentioned above. Again the minimum would be Facebook.
How did Facebook get to be so important? Well they say that if Facebook were a country it would be third in line- just below China and India. That's pretty big!
Here's another statistic for you those that were born from 1980 until 2000 ( Millenials) 96 % of them are using some form of social media and 78% will buy something on peer recommendation. And where are they telling their friend about the latest great purchase they made or place they visited... Yup Facebook.
Now its all starting to make sense isn't it? For your business to be relevant in todays climate you need to be involved in social media.
Ok, but how? The easy part is setting up your page. The tricky part is figuring out how to generate followers. The best way is to start connecting with other pages. I will be writing more posts on how to post status updates in the future so make sure to check back for updates.
